Located on the former site of the iconic Antiques Garage flea market, the newly-built Renaissance Chelsea Hotel pays homage to the site’s history, industrial surroundings and Chelsea’s Flower District with a theatrical design. The hotel’s collection of artwork is curated on a massive two-story installation of antique knobs, locks and keys leading to the second floor ballroom. Guestrooms are outfitted with wood-paneled wallcoverings and unexpected playful touches include gnome desk lamps and rabbit coat hooks. Suites are distinguished with 14-feet high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and artwork of a magnificent peacock feather, while offering incredible unobstructed views or private outdoor terraces. A grand, yet intimate atmosphere, the restaurant’s private dining room is defined by an arched doorway, garden string lights, antique rugs and a greenhouse-esque glass wall folds open to provide access to the restaurant’s rear yard. The hotel’s bi-level rooftop bar and lounge offers one of the highest outdoor pools in the city amidst a lush, garden-like setting with breathtaking views.
